Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (18:30 - 07:00), every other week required
• Patient Population: Pediatrics to Adolescents
• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Required Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
• Uniform: Scrubs in Ceil Blue color

Required Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Additional certifications may be required based on facility protocols (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP)

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Alabama
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Must live at least 90 miles from the facility
• Valid Driver’s License matching the name on the RRT license
• Social Security Card required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, sex offender registry, education verification, and others as per facility policy
• Employment eligibility verification (I-9 and E-Verify)
• Physical exam and ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Annual fit mask test (specific mask models required)
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer or vaccination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (mandatory for placements starting on or after 9/15; exemptions require facility form and mask wearing)
  • COVID-19 vaccination is voluntary

Orientation & Facility Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific modules prior to orientation (deadline: Friday before start)
• Facility badge photo required within 72 hours of signing contract (passport-style, no nose rings)
• Completion and hand-signing of APS Registry Clearance Form (Shirley’s Law) prior to orientation
• Proof of license renewal if license expires during assignment (no exceptions)
• NURSYS verification as applicable
• NIH Stroke Certification may be required (completed post-hire)
• Core competency exams and HIPAA attestation required

References & Documentation

• Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months (may extend to 18 months if necessary)
• Completed employment application/resume
• Annual skills checklist for applicable units

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with prior travel contract experience seeking a night shift role working with pediatric to adolescent patients.
