Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• SICU - Surgical Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• SICU - Surgical Intensive Care experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

• First-time travelers: Accepted
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs
• Local candidates: Accepted
• Travel pairs: Accepted, but same schedule is not guaranteed
• On-call: Not required
• Block scheduling: Not accommodated
• Ratios: 1:2–3, adjusted for skill level and acuity during required float

Clinical Focus

• Trauma patients
• Cardiovascular surgery patients, including TAVR and CABG recovery
• Neurosurgery patients
• Other complex surgical patients

Relevant Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Care for patients with acute ventilator needs, high oxygen demand, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleed, open heart recovery, post-code blue, multi-system organ failure, and CRRT needs
