Job Opportunity: LVN / LPN - Pediatric LTAC

Location: Johnston, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year pediatric LTAC experience
• Every Other Week (EOW) schedule
• Up to 3 weekends in a six-week period
• Iowa or Compact Nursing License required
• First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support), preferably from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form prior to start
• Background checks including 7-year SS Trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG (updated annually)
• State License verification (primary source online verification)
• National Tech Certification as applicable
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• ChildServe Contractor Confidentiality Agreement (must be signed prior to start)
• Child and Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter training (2-hour online course, certificates required)
• Iowa Single Contact Repository (SING) Check within 30 days of assignment start (criminal, dependent adult, child abuse, sex offender search)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit Mask (N95) within the last year, renewed annually
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within 1 year plus annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (titer, 2 vaccines, or history of chickenpox)
• 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccine highly recommended during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); declination allowed with masking in patient care areas
• COVID vaccine highly recommended during illness season (10/1 - 3/31); declination allowed with masking in patient care areas

References & Skills

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, per diem acute care roles
• 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care roles
• Annual skills checklist required
