Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Oakland, California

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in ICU/CPU settings.
- May float to other units within scope of practice, including Ashby or Herrick Campus.
- Flexibility required for floating with approximately 1.5 hours notice before shift start. Shuttle provided if floating is requested.
- Weekend requirements: Every other weekend (EOW) and as needed by unit.
- On-call as needed.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of RN ICU experience.
- Prior travel experience required: at least 6 months of travel nursing experience.
Required Certifications
- California RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- NIH Stroke Certification (verify by position)
- Other certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., CCRN, PALS, TNCC, NRP, EFM, CPI) - verify as applicable.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks required as applicable.
- Education verification required; BSN preferred.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series (or signed declination)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
Documentation and Orientation
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Job description
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Confidentiality and HIPAA agreements
- Regulatory orientation and code of conduct
- TB questionnaire and other health-related forms
- Complete competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, unit-specific skills).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps; employment verification required.
- Professional references required (2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care).
Additional Notes
- Flexibility and adaptability are important due to floating and on-call requirements.
- Shuttle service is provided for floating between campuses.
- Prior travel experience is mandatory for this role.
