Job Description

  • Position: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Locals living more than 50 miles away will be considered.

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • State RN License (verification required within 30 days of start)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted (as applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification) – as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable, with annual updates required
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – required for Telemetry RNs, with up to 2 attempts allowed
  • NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start
  • Tech Cert Verification (National) – required within 30 days of start for Allied/Non-RN candidates
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement – required and updated annually
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing – required for Telemetry RNs

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-Year Background Check (must be renewed annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM Check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG Check within 30 days of start
  • Education Verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma copy
  • State-Specific Checks for Texas:
    • Texas DADS Employability Status Check within 30 days of start
    • Texas Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start (no pending results allowed)
  • References: 2 references required within 3 years of start
  • Employment Application/Resume: Required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Fit Mask Test: Annual; must be 3M 1860 Regular or 3M 1860S (onsite option available)
  • Vaccinations & Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required)
    • Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
    • Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
    • Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B – positive titer, series, or declination; booster or declination post titer acceptable
    • Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if negative/equivocal
    • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or exemption for 2025-26 season
  • Drug Testing: Must have plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – must meet or exceed passing score
  • Color Blind Testing – online Ishihara test accepted

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion and signing of various acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
    • TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
    • Patient Centered Pledge
    • Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
    • Computer Security Agreement
    • Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality Statement
    • Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
    • Self Identify Form
    • Relationship to Physician Form
    • Authorization for Background Check
    • Traveler Identification Form
    • Employee Handbook (review only)
  • Orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required during onboarding
  • Parking available for orientation and employment (no fee)

Additional Notes

  • Pass/Fail testing for Telemetry nurses includes EKG and medication knowledge; candidates have 2 attempts to pass.
  • Background checks and verifications must be kept current and renewed as required.
  • Drug screening policy is strict; positive results lead to automatic cancellation.
  • All documentation and compliance must be completed timely to meet facility and contract requirements.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit in Texas with a 13-week travel contract starting early January. Candidates must meet all credentialing, background, health, and competency requirements to be eligible.
