Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse
- Schedule: No blocked schedule requests
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Scrubs Color: Royal Blue
- Orientation: Bi-weekly starts (3/9 and 3/23; 3/9 starts prioritized)
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in MS/Telemetry
- Also accepting RNs with Emergency Department (ED) or Clinical Evaluation Unit backgrounds
- EPIC charting experience required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred; training provided onsite if not currently held
Licensure
- Must have a current North Carolina RN license or a Compact RN license
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must have completed all required background checks and verifications within 90 days of start, including:
- Background check covering all counties lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Required immunizations/vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine (mandatory, no exemptions)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers required; no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Two professional references from employment within 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required
Work Environment & Other Details
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered at a local rate
- First-time travel nurses are welcome
- Local candidates are also eligible
- Duke Guest Account setup required prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required during orientation
- Candidates must complete online modules prior to orientation
- Candidate Behavioral Objectives (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
Summary
This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in MS/Telemetry with a 13-week contract in Durham, NC. The role requires at least 2 years of recent MS/Telemetry nursing experience (or ED/clinical evaluation unit experience), EPIC charting skills, and current NC or Compact RN licensure. ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory, with CPI preferred. Flu vaccination is strictly required. Candidates must meet comprehensive background, health, and immunization requirements and complete orientation and competency training. First-time travelers and local nurses are encouraged to apply.
