Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Location: San Francisco, California
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)


Job Description

  • 8-hour day shifts with variable start times
  • Must have graduated from an accredited Nuclear Medicine training program

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) License
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Current and valid driver’s license or government photo ID matching professional license
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification
  • Negative TB tests and annual TB questionnaire as per facility requirements
  • Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Flu seasonal vaccination or declination, COVID vaccination or approved exemption
  • Drug testing (standard 9 panel excluding THC) within 30 days of start and every 2 years thereafter
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
  • Completion of facility-specific learning modules and competency exams with passing scores
  • References: Two supervisory references required, preferably from most recent employment
  • Updated resume with last 7 years of work history, explaining any gaps of 30 days or more
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually

Preferred Qualifications

  • ARRT (CT) certification
  • NMTCB (CT) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Certifications Required

  • BLS (AHA) – required for all clinical positions
  • ACLS (AHA) – preferred, especially for cardiac-related units
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO) but not mandatory for this role

Compliance and Training

  • Must complete UCSF-specific compliance documents including COVID-19 preparedness, HIPAA training, and cybersecurity awareness
  • Pass/fail telemetry and medication competency exams required for clinical staff
  • Annual renewal of core competency exams and certifications as applicable
