Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work every other weekend
  • Required to work 50% of holidays encountered during contract
  • May be floated within the med-surg cluster
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Certifications required: BLS and ACLS

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC Provider card required for all RNs
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC Provider card required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, Pediatrics, PICU, and RRTs/CRTs
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, NICU, Postpartum, Nursery RNs, and applicable RRTs/CRTs
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification): Required for Oncology (new requirement starting 3/28/25)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for all Pre-Start ER RNs starting 11/5/2024
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for L&D RNs, must be updated every 2 years
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs (Blue Card)
  • Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology and other profession-specific competency exams as applicable
  • Core Parts I, II, III: Required for subcontractors (HIPAA and core testing)
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam: Required for GI Lab RNs

Licensure & Verification

  • State license primary source verification required within 60 days of start
  • NURSYS verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) required within 60 days
  • Education verification as applicable
  • 2 professional references within last 3 years required
  • Resume must include 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days

Background Checks & Registrations

  • 7-year background check required within 60 days of start
  • Must include alias/all names search, counties lived/worked/school, national and federal criminal searches, sex offender search, social security trace, FACIS III/OFAC
  • International background check required if candidate traveled outside USA in last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions checks required within 60 days
  • Missouri-specific background checks: MO FCSR or MO Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days before starting
  • Time sensitive background check initiation within 48 hours of signing

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (initiate within 48 hours of signing)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (series or titer, no declinations accepted after 7/1/2023)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or approved exemption)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/01 - 03/31)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • COVID-19 vaccine no longer required as of 11/21/2023

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (new candidates only)
  • Access and Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start
  • Various facility-specific forms related to TB, flu exemptions, employment eligibility, and caregiver registration
  • Fit mask test required annually (exceptions apply for some roles)

Additional Notes

  • Must initiate all time-sensitive documents and screenings within 48 hours of signing contract
  • Candidate must notify supervisor onsite if fit test is failed; restrictions apply for COVID patient care
  • Resume and application must be complete and accurate; missing or incorrect information will delay processing
  • Floating within med-surg cluster may be required

I worked in Same Day Surgery. The PACU and OR staff were great to work with. The supervisor/manager was very easy to approach and talk with.
