Job Details

- Shift: Days, 4 shifts of 10 hours (07:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Schedule: May include weekends, holidays, and rotating 10-hour shifts
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Education: BSN required
- Licensure: Active California RN license
- Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Experience: Minimum 3 years acute hospital experience or equivalent education/experience
- Clinical Experience: Recent experience in case management, utilization management, or discharge planning
- Preferred Experience: Medicine, Emergency Department (ED), oncology, and pediatric experience

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Identification: Current and valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
- Background Checks:
- Social Security Trace
- 7-year National Criminal History Search (including county searches)
- National Sex Offender Search
- FACIS Level 3 search (includes OFAC)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM search (within 30 days of start, annual requirement)
- HHS/OIG search (within 30 days of start, annual requirement)
- Education Verification: Diploma, official transcripts, or verification required for all travelers
- Licensure Verification: NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (all RNs & LVNs)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for ER, Tele, Stepdown, PCU, ICU units)
- General Competency Exam (all units; LVN/LPNs & CNAs require 80% pass rate)
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- Photo for badge (high-quality, recent headshot)
- Various mandatory UCLA reporting and confidentiality agreements
- HIPAA training and acknowledgment
- Annual OSHA and other required online education modules
- Access request forms and other onboarding paperwork (due within 72 hours of signing)
Certifications (may be required depending on unit)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification for Oncology RNs)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) for Psych positions
- IV Certification (for LVN/LPNs)
- NIH Stroke Certification (some units)
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask testing (specific approved masks required; annual expiration for Aya candidates)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test (QGold within 1 year required)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titers or proof of vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or completed vaccine series)
- Varicella (positive titer or proof of vaccination)
- Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (Aya requirement)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination: Preferred but not required; specific monovalent booster or declination accepted
References & Employment History
- Two references required (supervisor level or above; one within last year)
- Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Work history verification for last 5 years, including gap explanations
Additional Notes
- Onboarding documents and training certificates must be completed and submitted promptly to ensure timely access and start
- Facility requires various mandatory online training modules and signed agreements prior to start
- Facility-specific policies and forms must be reviewed and signed as part of onboarding
