Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Facility: Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and STEMI Emergency Department

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift
• Schedule: Alternating weekends and holidays (50% holidays, every other weekend)
• Float: Yes, between Emergency Department (ED) and ED Observation Unit
• Specialty: Emergency Department with Pediatric ED inside the main ED
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years; 1st time travelers accepted if they have Level I trauma experience
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS: Required for RNs in ED and critical care areas
• BLS: Required for all RNs
• PALS: Required for ER, Pediatrics, and PICU
• CPI: Required for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs; preferred for this role
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for all pre-start ER RNs as of 11/5/2024
• Other certifications may be required depending on specialty or unit

Licensure & Verification

• Missouri state RN license with primary source verification within 60 days of start
• NURSYS verification required within 60 days
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG exclusions
• International background checks if candidate has traveled outside the USA in last 7 years
• State-specific searches (MO FCSR, MO EDL) required within 60 days
• Drug screening (7-panel) within 60 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or approved exemptions:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (updated annually)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declinations no longer accepted for new candidates)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 vaccine no longer required as of 11/21/2023

Documentation & Compliance

• Photo ID and proof of employment eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
• Professional references (2 within last 2 years)
• Resume with 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreements, TB surveys, and caregiver screening forms

Additional Notes

• Candidates must initiate time-sensitive health screenings and background checks within 48 hours of signing
• Onsite CPI training available if not completed prior to start (unpaid)
• Photo for badge required only for new candidates, not for extensions
• Float assignments limited to ED and ED Observation; no float to psych center
