• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00 - 7:30)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a Medical ICU setting.
• Required to float to other adult ICUs as needed.
• Charting system used: Epic.
• Scheduling is flexible based on unit needs; no block schedules available.
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend/holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience within the last year.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing requirements.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued ID required.
• Background check: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and education verification.
• Statewide Massachusetts iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
• Education verification of highest completed education required.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination)
  • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with titers, vaccines, or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • Varicella with titers, vaccines, documented history, or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • Hepatitis B series, reactive titer, or declination (declinations valid for 1 year)
• TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; positive TB requires chest X-ray and facility-specific TB questionnaire.
• Pass/fail testing on medication exam required on first day of orientation (minimum 80% score).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 6 months of start and annually thereafter for direct RNs in critical care settings.
• NURSYS license verification required within 30 days prior to start.
• Employment application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within three years of start date.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must pass all required exams and competencies on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation.
• COVID-19 declination form required if declining updated vaccine; declinations have specific deadlines.
• Facility-specific declinations for vaccines are not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, and Maternity units.
