Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: May float within scope depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, and Infant patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card
  • Completed and accurate I-9 form with work eligibility attestation
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including multiple specific searches (SSN trace, state and national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if verification pending
  • South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or fewer if applicable)

Certifications & Competencies

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blindness testing required prior to start
  • Competency exam required (Pediatric OR competency preferred but regular OR competency accepted)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement (HIPAA attestation)
  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Radiation badge may be required depending on unit assignment (not typical for Respiratory Therapy)
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
  • Annual TB questionnaire and negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccines; boosters may be required)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Additional Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style badge photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual or job-appropriate attire; no hats or sunglasses
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start; must be done on a computer, not a phone
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system prior to start
  • Open to block scheduling with prior approval (not guaranteed)
  • Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates may be accepted on a case-by-case basis

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
