Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) - Nights

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Perform all aspects of sleep disorders testing, including setting up and monitoring patients over 10-12 hour periods. Operate and troubleshoot sleep lab equipment independently. Score and evaluate polysomnograms. Provide education and consultation regarding sleep disorders. Maintain and monitor sleep lab equipment. Deliver culturally and age-appropriate patient care in a calm and professional environment.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school for respiratory care or nursing
  • Montana Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years (24 months) experience in sleep disorder testing
  • Routine EEG experience preferred
  • Self-directed with ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Essential Job Functions

  • Set up and monitor sleep disorder tests
  • Assist and educate patients on sleep disorder diagnosis, equipment, and treatment
  • Score and evaluate polysomnograms as required
  • Serve as primary contact for physicians, patients, and outreach accounts regarding diagnostic information and consultation

Schedule Requirements

  • Regular and sustained attendance required
  • May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts
  • On-call work may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
  • Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling
  • Continuous fine finger movements and close visual acuity
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations

Additional Information

  • Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
  • Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
