Job Opportunity: IR Technologist (Interventional Radiology)

• Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology (IR) experience
• Specific experience may vary depending on assignment location
• Prior travel experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

Work Environment & Department Details

• Department: IR / Vascular Tech
• 7 procedure rooms total (4 Cath Lab/EP & 3 IR/Vascular)
• Average 20+ cases per day across all rooms
• Common procedures include:

  • IR: Port placements, liver biopsy, IVC placements, G-tube placements, PICC & Central line placements, neuro procedures (coiling, thrombectomy, embolizations) with anesthesia support
  • Vascular: Femoral-popliteal bypass, AAA repair, carotid procedures, EVAR, angiograms, and more

Job Duties

• Prepare procedure suites and ensure radiation safety setup
• Calibrate and troubleshoot fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
• Pull supplies, set up sterile tables
• Scrub in and assist physicians with procedures including device exchange, guidewire manipulation, catheter placement, balloon and stent deployment
• Manage radiation dose and imaging angles
• Clean, restock, and turnover rooms
• Perform sheath removals

Equipment & EMR

• EMR systems: Merge, Cerner
• Equipment: Siemens imaging systems

Staffing & Scheduling

• Daily staffing in IR: 1 RN, 2 Techs, anesthesia support for neuro cases
• Cath Lab staffing: 1 RN, 3 Techs
• EP team: 3-4 person team
• STEMI call team: 4 persons (1 RN, 3 Techs)
• Shift schedule:

  • Typically 4 ten-hour days per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) plus call
  • Rotating day off
  • Option to consider 5 eight-hour days (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Call requirements:

  • Weeknight and weekend call rotation approximately once every 3 weekdays and once every 3 weekends (Friday through Monday)
  • Holiday call may be required
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
• Floating: Hybrid floating for vascular cases

Orientation & Training

• 2-3 full days of department-specific training and shadowing
• Buddy call during second week; no call during first week
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility

Dress Code

• Scrubs provided
• Clinicians may wear their own scrub caps
