Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (9 AM - 9 PM)
- Call Requirements:
- Weeknight call: Typically 4 hours after scheduled shift; may cover up to 12 hours if needed (1-2 times per contract)
- Weekend call: 12-hour in-house day shift, typically once per month
- Holiday call: 12-hour in-house day shift, typically once per month
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Scheduling: No block scheduling; scheduled based on department needs
- Orientation: Approximately 1 week of general and unit-specific orientation
Unit Information
- Department: Surgical Services, OR (Operating Room)
- Number of Suites: 17
- Average Cases per Day: 65
- Common Cases:
- Pediatric (all specialties and trauma)
- Adult cases including General Surgery, DaVinci robotic surgery, Neurosurgery (spines and craniotomies), Pediatric scoliosis
- Orthopedics (total joints, trauma, sports medicine, spica casts for pediatrics)
- Urology (complex cases including DaVinci, kidney, prostate, cystoscopy)
- Oncology (attached Oncology center)
- ENT, GYN (including c-sections for accreta)
- Bariatrics (robotic or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y, sleeves, gastric bypass)
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience
- Preferred: 1-2 prior travel assignments (travel experience preferred but not explicitly required)
- Certifications: BLS required
- Skills: Broad experience across multiple surgical specialties preferred; candidates should be able to identify their top 2 strengths/areas of expertise
- Scrubbing: Not required for RNs
- Floating: Rarely required; may float to nearby surgery centers or other local hospitals; experience with CVOR (robotic thoracic surgery) is a plus for floating opportunities
Work Environment
- Support: Charge nurse available 24/7 on each shift
- OR Techs: Present
- EMR System: EPIC
- Dress Code: Hospital provides grey scrubs

- This is an urgent backfill position with a start ASAP requirement
- Call shifts are primarily volunteer-based, with mandatory coverage as needed
- Floating is minimal and limited to nearby locations
- Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
