NICU Registered Nurse Travel Opportunity

Location: Stockton, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse for a travel contract in a Level 3 NICU unit with 30 beds (average census 22). The unit cares for very sick babies including high volume sepsis, respiratory cases, preemies, drug withdrawal, and syphilis babies. No neonatal surgeries or ECMO cases.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience
Active California RN license
Certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS
Strong IV skills required
Cerner EMR experience required
Comfortable working with surrogates and providing couplet care in Postpartum and Pediatrics (floating required)

Work Environment & Details

Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 in NICU; 1:4 in Pediatrics
Shifts: 7a-7p and 7p-7a; no block scheduling allowed
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, possibly more
Holidays: 2 out of 3 major holidays required
No transport call required
Nurses interpret basic arrhythmias; Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Neonatologist available for consultation
Equipment: Phillips monitors, high frequency vents, Draeger, Nitric Oxide, Nava Ventilation
IV pumps: Medifusion currently, transitioning to Alaris syringe pumps
RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
Orientation: 2 shifts floor-specific orientation required
Scrub Color: Navy blue

Additional Notes

All required training modules must be completed prior to arrival
Floating to Pediatrics and Postpartum is mandatory; couplet care assignments included
No nurse aides on unit; charge nurse present each shift
Must be comfortable with a busy, high-acuity patient population
Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

This position is ideal for NICU nurses with solid clinical skills, flexibility to float, and experience with Cerner EMR in a fast-paced Level 3 NICU environment.
