Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
Location: Seattle, Washington
Position Details
- Specialty: IR Tech
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Department: Interventional Radiology
- Shifts: Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM) with rotating days off
- Call Requirements:
- 1-2 weeknights per week (6:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- 1 weekend call per month (Friday 6:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM)
- Call schedule is flexible; staff can choose and swap call days
- 30-minute response time required on call
- Holiday: Work required if holiday falls on scheduled shift or call; holiday pay provided
Certifications & Experience
- Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - ARRT (R)
- Washington State license
- Preferred:
- IV certification
- At least 1 year of IR tech experience
- Travel experience preferred
- Experience at a stroke receiving facility preferred
Department & Equipment
- Rooms: 3 total (2 biplane, 1 single plane)
- Hybrid OR: Some use CT/IR scanner; floating to Hybrid OR possible but not required
- Imaging Types: Neuro IR, vascular, and neuro surgery procedures
- Daily Volume: 10-20 cases per day plus 1-4 stroke cases per week
- Equipment: Philips imaging systems
- EMR/PACS: Cerner EMR, GE Centricity RIS, Philips Intellispace PACS
Job Duties
- Scrubbing in and circulating during IR procedures
- Supporting neuro IR, vascular, and neuro surgeons
- Part of the call team
Team & Supervision
- Lead IR tech available
- Integrated with nursing staff (charge nurse and nurse manager)
- Radiology Director oversight
- Radiologists in-house during the day; on-call at night
- No use of RRA’s due to presence of residents
- 4 neuro radiologists, 2 neuro surgeons, 3 vascular surgeons on staff
Additional Information
- Radiation badge required
- IV starts performed by IR RNs, not techs
- Scrubs provided
- Orientation includes education modules and a preceptor for the first week
- Parking is not reimbursed; garage parking and public transit options available
This position is ideal for IR techs with solid experience, flexibility for call, and interest in working in a busy stroke and neurovascular environment.
