Job Opportunity: SNF RN (3rd Floor) - Wheeling, West Virginia
Position Details
- Specialty: Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
- Scheduling: No self-scheduling; no guaranteed block scheduling
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: Travelers will float before core staff as needed
Facility & Unit Information
- Type of Facility: Skilled nursing, short-term patients only (no long-term)
- Number of Beds: 24 private rooms
- Patient Ratios:
- RN/LPN: 2 nurses total (1:12 ratio)
- CNAs: 2 CNAs total (1:12 ratio)
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Point Click Care
- COVID Precautions: No separate COVID unit; private rooms with enhanced droplet precautions; N95 masks used; COVID vaccine not required
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Patients primarily receiving IV antibiotics or therapy to regain strength for discharge home
- Common diagnoses include:
- Sepsis
- Femur fractures
- NSTEMI (Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
- Chronic Kidney Failure (CKF)
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer medications
- Wound care
- Foley catheter care
- PEG tube feedings
- Ostomy care
- Tracheostomy care
- IV care including IV antibiotics, blood, IV fluids
- Management of PICC lines, mediports, central lines
Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CPR certification required prior to first day
- Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license (50-mile radius rule)
- Experience with IVs, PICC lines, mediports, central lines, and IV antibiotics required
Team & Support
- Physicians available 24/7 by phone
- Interdisciplinary team on-site includes:
- Physical Therapy (PT)
- Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Speech Therapy (ST)
- Social Services
- Case Managers
- Dieticians
- Pharmacist
- Medical Records
- No respiratory therapist on-site 24/7
- Pharmacy on-site with pharmacist; medications supplied from nearby hospital
Orientation & Dress Code
- Orientation: 2 shifts
- Scrub colors:
- RNs and LPNs: Navy blue
- CNAs: Gray scrub pants with any print top
This position is ideal for RNs experienced in short-term skilled nursing care, IV management, and working in a team-oriented environment with a variety of therapy and support services on-site.
