Shift
Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- 2 years of ICU experience
Preferred Qualifications
- CCRN
- PALS
Assignment Details
- Adult and pediatric ICU assignment
- Floating to telemetry may be required
- Every other weekend required
- Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital when on call
- Holiday coverage is part of the schedule
- Charge nurse available and does not take patients
- No nurse aides
- 16-bed unit, expandable to 20 beds
- 1:1 and 1:2 patient ratios
- 2-shift ICU orientation before working independently
- Navy scrubs
Clinical Environment
- Common patient types include medical-surgical, neuro, trauma, CABG, psych overdose, pediatric DKA, TPA, hypothermia, ECMO, Impella, CRRT, TAVR, EVAR, carotid stenting, ECOS, and IABP cases
- Ventilator support is available
- Intensivist coverage is available 24 hours a day
- IV team is available during the day
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available 24/7
