Med Surg Registered Nurse

Overview

• 13-week travel assignment in Macomb, Illinois
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Start: ASAP

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in Illinois
• BLS certification
• PALS certification
• 3–5 years of nursing experience

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a rural hospital setting
• Experience with telemetry monitoring
• Experience in outpatient infusions

Unit Details

• 16-bed Med/Surg unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• High patient turnover with frequent admissions and discharges

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other or every third weekend
• No mandatory holidays
• No call requirement
• Floating may include safety sitter or other supportive roles
• RNs interpret their own telemetry strips

Clinical Environment

• Care for medical and surgical patients, including respiratory conditions, cellulitis, CHF, colon resections, and orthopedic procedures
• Access to high-flow oxygen and Vapotherm
• BiPAP-level respiratory support is transferred to ICU

Orientation and Support

• First-week orientation includes HR processes, infection control, equipment familiarization, and preceptor support
• Support staff includes 1 CNA
• Charge nurse takes patient assignments
• House supervisor supports weekends

Dress Code

• Pewter scrub tops with black shoes and pants
• Colored tops are allowed if layered with a pewter outer garment
