Required Qualifications

• Active RN license for WA or Compact License
• 2 full years of experience
• ACLS
• BLS

Unit Details

• ER/Trauma Center
• 56 beds, with hall beds bringing capacity to 60–70
• Fast track with 6 beds
• Separate triage area with 5 beds
• 18 ED beds designated for holding inpatients awaiting bed placement
• Locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms
• Approximately 170–200 patients per day
• Ratios: 1:3, or 1:4 for low acuity

Clinical Scope

• Common patient types include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory, abdominal pain, and mental health
• ED physicians/mid-levels: yes
• Charge nurse/house supervisor: yes
• ED Techs and CNAs from inpatient provide 1:1 sitters in the department
• RTs manage vents, CPap, Bipap, and other RT equipment
• RTs also complete ABGs
• ED Techs do EKGs
• Monitor techs: yes
• RNs read strips: yes
• Radiology is adjacent to the ED
• Transport assists with patient movement as able
• Nurse or ED Tech draws phlebotomy primarily; lab assists when difficult

Scheduling and Logistics

• Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks; expect 25+ hours
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of compliance information and 1 day of department orientation
• Schedule is based on department needs and existing traveler patterns
• Weekend requirement is based on unit needs/demands
• Must work holidays in November/December
• Manager may consider 1 of the 3 holidays if it does not conflict with unit demands
• No call or standby requirement
• Extra shifts are available but not required
• No floating requirements
• No RTO for the first full week of the assignment
• Professional colors are allowed for scrubs/dress code
