Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Atlantis, Florida
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 558 (acute care medical/surgical facility)
• Staffing: 5-8 staff members including 2-4 RRTs and per diem help
• Shifts:

  • Day Shift: Supervisor RRT plus 4-8 RRTs
  • Night Shift: Supervisor plus 4-8 RRTs
• Patient Ratios: Vary by shift/unit
• Equipment Used:

  • Oxygen cylinders, nebulizer, suction machine
  • CPAP & BiPAP machines
  • V60, Servo-1, Servo-U ventilators
  • High flow oxygen devices
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Call Requirements: As needed

Job Description

• Provide treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, including asthma, pneumonia, and emphysema.
• Work collaboratively with physicians using an active disciplinary approach.
• Opportunity to work in a fast-paced, acute care environment specializing in cardiovascular care, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedics, and bariatrics.
• Facility is a teaching hospital recognized nationally for quality care.

Required Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist (RT) license
• NBRC certification
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with stroke education
• Previous experience with Meditech documentation system preferred (not required)
• Ability to function well independently and adapt to a fast-paced unit
