Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Multi Trauma Unit (MTU)
  • Beds: 20
  • Staff: 40 total
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 nurses, 3 techs
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 nurses, 2 techs
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 4 patients (charge nurse is patient-free)
  • Equipment Used: Ventilators, Feeding Pumps, IV Pumps, Wound Vacuums, Specialty Beds, Suction, Chest Tubes
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech / CPN
  • Trauma Level: Level 1 trauma center with highly complex patients

Typical Procedures and Skills

  • Managing chest tubes, trauma patients, tracheostomies, and suction
  • Bedside bronchoscopies
  • Chest tube placement

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Meditech EMR system

  • Candidates without the required acute care PCU experience and certifications will not be considered
