Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be indicated on submission)
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
Call Requirements: None
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical, oncology, and neuro-surgical recovery patients.
- Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes.
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality.
- May float to other units based on staffing needs.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: General Surgery (GI, GU, Plastics, Overflow Orthopedics)
- Number of Beds: 30
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6-7 on night shift (not guaranteed)
- Equipment Used: Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, remote telemetry monitors
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Driver's License
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift; frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., and perform minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
- Must be able to work varying schedules and shifts as needed
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination is mandatory from November 1 through April 1; no declinations accepted
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for the entire orientation week is required
- Flexible scheduling options available, including blocked scheduling and holiday time off requests (limited to one per assignment)
