Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the age and needs of the patient population on assigned units. The role ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards. The RN demonstrates professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial patient assessments and prioritize care based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Re-assess patients regularly to monitor progress and identify interventions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care within nursing standards.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans as needed.
• Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
• Document timely interventions and perform Point of Care testing procedures.
• Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
• Serve as a resource for staff, physicians, visitors, and patients.
• Participate in orientation of new staff and students.
• Promote a positive, professional work environment and collaborate to achieve unit goals.
• Exhibit behaviors that foster patient satisfaction, respect patient rights and confidentiality, and support hospital mission and continuous improvement.
• Adapt to changes in work environment or schedule with flexibility and maintain a positive attitude.
• Comply with all policies, maintain positive attendance, and adhere to safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Minimum 1 year of float experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Additional Information

• This position is a backfill replacement.
• No prior travel experience is explicitly required.
