Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Start Date: ASAP
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour variable shifts (days, PM, nights)

  • PM shift start times: 11:00 AM or 2:00 PM
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Float: May be required to float to nearby locations within a 50-mile radius
• On Call/Call Back:

  • 12 hours on call in a 6-week period
  • Response time: 30 minutes
  • Minimum call back: 2 hours
• Unit: Trauma Level II, 18-bed emergency department
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 3-4 patients per nurse
• Environment: Fast-paced, includes stroke certification, cardiac, neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, respiratory care
• Charting System: EPIC required
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis system
• Additional Duties: RNs draw labs, perform nebulizer treatments; respiratory therapists and X-ray staff on site

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• PALS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• 3 to 6 months or more of total travel experience
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Experience with Epic

Additional Information

• Scrub Colors: Any color allowed
• Low Census Policy:

  • Eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours per contract
  • May be placed on call during low census hours with call back pay if called in
• Orientation Week: GSA hours not guaranteed; set hours guaranteed except during unit closures on holidays
• Vaccination Policy:

  • During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccines must wear a mask at all times per facility policy
  • Non-compliance may result in corrective action
