Job Description

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) works under general supervision to perform technical and complex laboratory analyses that contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include:

• Performing tests in various lab sections such as Arterial Blood Gases, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, and Urinalysis.
• Conducting quality control procedures and documenting results.
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, modifying procedures as needed.
• Serving as a resource for hospital staff by answering questions and solving problems.
• Potentially supervising personnel and lab operations in the absence of the Section Supervisor.
• Performing instrument checks, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Reporting normal and abnormal test results according to established procedures.
• Using laboratory computer systems for specimen processing and result entry.
• Receiving and preparing patient specimens for analysis, and collecting certain specimens.
• Adhering to hospital safety standards and policies.

Requirements

• License: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (required)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Epic Experience: 6 to 12 months of Epic system experience within the past year
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Additional Notes:

  • No return to office (RTO) preferred during 9/15 - 11/26; requests will be reviewed
