Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
• Reassess patients’ health needs at least every shift using nursing processes
• Establish and update individualized plans of care based on assessments and data
• Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights
• Assess and document medication effectiveness and any adverse effects
• Perform treatments and procedures adhering to hospital policies, sterile technique, and patient privacy
• Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress accurately and legibly
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
• Interpret diagnostic data and intervene appropriately
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and healthcare team using SBAR communication
• Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
• Manage patients in restraints per policy and understand application criteria
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including two patient identifiers
• Understand and participate in disaster plans and rapid response activation
• Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Haz Mat, Fire, Oxygen shut off)
• Follow infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols
• Understand and use the Chain of Command appropriately
• Follow Core Measures and Vaccine protocols
• Perform advanced patient assessments and prioritize patient needs
• Care for patients across the age continuum from birth to geriatric
• Respond to minor to life-threatening illness or injury
• Complete ED skills checklist before first scheduled shift
• Understand patient flow through ED including Rapid Medicine Evaluation (RME)
• Perform nursing activities related to admission and discharge
• Use chain of command within the ED and understand teaching/physician residency model
• Safely administer high-risk medications following hospital/ED policy

Requirements

• Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Nursing
• Years of Experience: Minimum 4 years in ED and Level 1 Trauma
• Prior Travel Experience: Minimum 2 years travel experience required
• Certifications:

  • ACLS, BLS, CA RN License
  • MAB or CPI Certification
  • TNCC or ATCN
  • NIHSS
  • PALS
• Experience in a facility with at least 40 beds
• Epic electronic health record experience highly preferred
• Some exposure to Pediatrics (PEDS)
• Travel candidates must reside at least 50 miles away from the facility
• Return to Office (RTO) maximum 8 days

Schedule

• 1 Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
