Role Overview
The staff Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The nurse provides care using the nursing process, nursing trends, and available technology and resources, within the philosophy of the institution.
Essential Functions
- Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit for the scope of service
- Implements procedures and theories related to the area of practice
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date nursing documentation for the healthcare team
- Completes initial patient assessment on admission and develops a plan of care based on patient and family needs
- Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures, and modifies the plan based on continuous evaluation
- Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting hazards and incidents
- Communicates directly and privately with others to resolve issues
- Gives constructive feedback to peers, confers with colleagues, and identifies personal learning needs
- Fulfills all departmental competency requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of oncology nursing experience
- Oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Valid Illinois RN license in good standing
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
