Assignment Length

Schedule
- Day shift
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
Unit Overview
- High-acuity critical care unit with 8 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
- Nurses provide primary care
- House supervisor available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy available in house 24/7
- Telemetry monitoring is centrally monitored by a telemetry tech in the ICU
- ICU nurses may float to the medical-surgical unit
Patient Population / Common Diagnoses
- Respiratory failure
- Post-surgical patients
- Wound care
- IV antibiotics
- Post-CVA
- Post-trauma
- Cardiac patients
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- ACLS
- Ability to titrate drips
- Experience with PEG tube care and feedings
- Experience with CVC, PICC, and midline usage and care
- Experience with tracheostomy patients
- Experience caring for sedated, ventilated patients
- Experience titrating vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips
Scheduling Expectations
- Every other weekend
- Holiday rotation
- May be asked to fill holes
- Call/standby is not currently required, but may change
Orientation
- Classroom orientation per policy
- 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
Submission Requirements
- Last four digits of SSN
- Middle initial
- Requested time off
Additional Notes
- Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
- Drug screen required
- Scrubs only; approved t-shirts may be worn
- Non-billable orientation hours: 12
