Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery RN

Location: Silverdale, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse for a travel contract in a busy multimodality Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery unit. The facility is newly opened (December 2020) and expanding services, creating a need for travel nurses.

Required Qualifications

Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience
Licenses/Certifications:
- Active Washington RN License (or Compact License)
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- NIHSS Certification
Pending WA license applicants may submit; temporary license takes approximately 4 weeks

Work Environment & Details

Unit has 22-23 bays including beds and radial/recovery lounge chairs
Average 30 cases per day including left/right heart caths, complex PCI, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and peripheral vascular cases (hybrid/combined)
EMR system: EPIC
Medication system: PYXIS
Staffed daily with 16 RNs across various shifts
Charge Nurse and Lead Nurse present
Call requirement: 4-7 days per month by sign-up, with 60-minute response time expected (30 minutes preferred)
Call hours:
- Weekday nights: 9:30 PM - 5:00 AM
- Weekend days: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Weekend nights: 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM
Holidays: On-call only, otherwise off
Shifts:
- Recovery unit open Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM - 9:30 PM
- Common shifts: 6 AM-6 PM, 7 AM-7 PM, 9 AM-5:30 PM, and 1 PM-9:30 PM (negotiable)
Orientation: Less than 1 week if competent
Floating: Only in emergency situations
Scrubs: Hospital-issued surgical attire provided

24/7 Cardiologist on call
24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Code Support
24/7 Pharmacy and Code Support
IV team (SWAT team) available but not needed in unit; staff proficient in ultrasound IV starts

This is a travel contract due to service expansion, not staff resignations

Pros

I was on a med onc unit so might be different culture on each unit. Travel friendly. Staff is great. Ratios were 1-5/6. Schedule was flexible. Cost of living depending on neighborhood was also good.
