Position Details

  • Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU

  • Unit Size: 33 beds (average daily census 16)
  • Shift Times:
    • 06:30 - 18:30 (Day)
    • 18:30 - 06:30 (Night)
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling available for core staff and travelers; block scheduling generally not approved except possibly weekends only
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Minimum of 2 holidays during contract
  • Orientation: 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation
  • Return to Office (RTO): Required within 7 days or less of contract start; no additional RTO approved

Patient Care & Responsibilities

  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 for adult patients
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress
  • RN Responsibilities:
    • Titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, sedation
    • Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor/telemetry strips (GE monitors)
    • Troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilators
  • Floating: Typically to Progressive Care Unit (PCU), occasionally MedSurg with ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
  • Support Staff: Nurse aides and healthcare support techs assist based on census and patient needs

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Experience: (Not explicitly stated; assume standard ICU RN experience)
  • Exams: Pass/fail RN exam during orientation; open book with 90% required to pass (failure results in contract termination)

    • Driver’s license required at submittal to verify candidate location within 50-mile radius
