LDRP - RN

Overview

• Nights
• 13-week contract
• Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
• Department: OB- LDRP | RN
• 4 LDRPs, 2 postpartum beds, and 1 exam room that can be used as an LDRP

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nevada
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Experience working with neonate patients
• Ability to function in postpartum care
• Ability to care for sick babies prior to transport
• Ability to interpret fetal heart rate strips
• Experience titrating Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate drips

Preferred

• STABLE
• 1 year of experience in true LDRP

Schedule

• 3 12-hour shifts
• Start time 7:00-7:30
• 30-minute lunch
• Every other weekend
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation

Unit Details

• No designated triage area; triage is done in all rooms
• C-sections are supported by the OR team for scrubbing, circulating, and recovery; the OB nurse receives the baby
• Approximate volume: 20 births per month, 200 per year
• Staffing aims to follow AWHONN guidelines
• No charge nurse on the unit
• Rare nurse aides assist with stocking and other department tasks
• OB is on call with a 30-minute response time
• No neonatologist in house
• Anesthesia is on call after hours with a 20-minute or less response time
• RNs read their own EFM strips
• Rarely, ICU RN support may be used for maternal tele needs

Floating

• May float to MS, ER, or LTC as a sitter or helping hands
• May return to the unit for laboring patients

Housing

• Housing leads available; candidate must confirm they have looked into housing in the area with the submittal

Orientation

• 1 day of general orientation
• 1 to 2 shifts on unit with a preceptor
