Role Overview

• Float role; may work anywhere in the hospital
• Block scheduling allowed
• Work every other weekend and 50% of holidays
• Rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather required
• Works in a facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Not open to local candidates within 50 miles
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Missouri (Missouri RCP license and CRT (NBRC) required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2 years of experience
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association (Provider card) or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association (Provider card) or American Red Cross
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association (Provider card) or American Red Cross
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) Advanced Provider certification through the American Academy of Pediatrics, required for all RRTs at this facility

Background and Screening

• 7-year background check within 60 days of start; international check required if the candidate has traveled outside the USA within the last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion checks within 60 days of start, run separately from the background check
• Missouri FCSR or Missouri Caregiver (DMH) search on file within 60 days of start; FCSR registration form is time sensitive (initiate within 48 hours of signing). Candidate cannot start with both pending.
• Missouri EDL search results within 60 days of start (web version)
• Negative 7-panel drug test within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• Driver's license or state ID (photo ID required)

Health and Immunizations

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (time sensitive; must be initiated within 48 hours of signing)
• TB: negative QuantiFERON (QGold) or TSpot, or a true 2-step PPD, within 1 year of start; updated annually

  • Positive TB: chest x-ray within 2 years of start, plus proof of past positive test or a chest x-ray reason stating "for positive TB test," and either proof of INH treatment or a signed facility INH recommendation
• Tdap within 10 years of start (for candidates signed on or after 7/1/2023); religious or medical exemption available subject to review
• Measles, mumps, and rubella: positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; declinations and religious exemptions not accepted; medical exemption available through facility form
• Varicella: positive titer or 2 varicella vaccines; declinations and religious exemptions not accepted; medical exemption available through facility form
• Hepatitis B: 3-dose series or positive titer; declinations not acceptable for candidates signed on or after 7/1/2023
• Flu vaccine or facility-approved medical or religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 to 03/31)
• Fit test within 1 year of start on an accepted mask (3M 1870+, 3M 1860R, 3M 1860S, or 3M 9205); onsite fit testing is no longer available

Competencies and Documentation

• Competency exam and medication/pharmacology competency exam, as applicable to profession
• Skills checklist, updated annually
• Access and confidentiality agreement within 60 days of start
• New hire packet within 60 days of start
• Certification of employment eligibility, completed after I-9/E-Verify, with full legal name matching government ID
• Photo for badge (new candidates only)
• NHP TB survey within 60 days of start
• Two professional references within the last 2 years (not required to be supervisors)
• Resume showing at least 7 years of employment with no gaps over 30 days, including dates (MM/YY), city, and state for each job, plus education completion date (MM/YYYY), school name and location, and degree

Physical Demands and Essential Functions

• Active role requiring ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
• Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
