Job Description

• Float to postpartum unit as needed
• Occasional on-call if census drops
• Patient ratio: 1:2
• Experience required in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) and Mother/Baby care
• Responsibilities include scrubbing, circulating, conscious sedation, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), and triage
• Charting system: GE Centricity
• Medication system: Pyxis
• Communication system: SBAR
• Scrubs provided

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only; certification of completion accepted as placeholder)
• BLS (AHA only; certification of completion accepted as placeholder)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for Labor & Delivery
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN Intermediate or C-EFM acceptable; 2-year expiration policy
• Annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training required
• Unit-specific competency exam and pharmacology exam required (must be completed no later than 1 day prior to start)

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey
• NURSYS verification required (if applicable)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask (N95) annual fit testing completed onsite during orientation
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive TB, additional facility-specific questionnaire and chest X-ray required
• Positive titers required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella (proof of vaccination alone not accepted; vaccination schedule applies for non-immune)
• 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (must include marijuana)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 to 3/31)
• COVID vaccination (1-2 doses) required; medical and religious exemptions allowed; testing onsite for unvaccinated travelers

Additional Requirements

• Copy of current Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within 3 months of start
• Two professional references within 7 years required (not necessarily supervisory)
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required
• Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start, allowing 30-day gaps or less)
• Review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, safety brochure and quiz, dress code, employee handbook, confidentiality & security agreement, license verification disclosure, and HireRight release

Notes

• Hospital will NOT accept travelers who live permanently in Westchester County, Rockland County, or New York City
• New Jersey travelers accepted without restriction
• Return to office (RTO) documentation due at time of submission

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a 13-week travel assignment in New Jersey with opportunities to work in postpartum and mother/baby care units.
