Job Opportunity: OT Inpatient Rehab (Therapy/Rehabilitation)

Job Description

• Inpatient Occupational Therapist role in a community hospital setting
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient experience required
• Locals allowed at the same rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapy state license for Virginia (permanent license required; temporary licenses not accepted)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years inpatient OT experience
• Proof of primary residence must match compact licensure documentation
• Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable per unit (check unit-specific requirements)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement including HIPAA compliance
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Abuse Reporting Competency covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation of elderly or incapacitated adults
• Color Blind Testing (required)

Background & Screening Requirements

• Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including:

  • All states lived/worked in past 7 years
  • State of permanent residence check
  • VA Statewide Repository Search
  • Social Security Trace
  • All counties lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Nationwide check
  • FACIS Level 3
  • Sex Offender Registry
  • Education verification or official transcripts
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results required (may pend at start with proof of submission)
• Fingerprinting required for certain units (not specifically for this role unless assigned to pediatrics, NICU, psych)
• Virginia Central Registry (CPS) Search and submission process required for all candidates (may pend at start with proof of submission)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Medical Fit Mask Test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or PAPR required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test (Q-gold/T-spot within 30 days of start or two PPDs including one within 30 days)
• TB Questionnaire updated annually
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers required; boosters required if low titers
• Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
• Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required (no declinations accepted without exemption)
• Drug testing within 30-60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant drug screens not accepted)
• Latex Questionnaire required prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required
• Complete application/resume required
• Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
• Facility-specific orientation modules and exams (pharmacology, point of care testing, mask fitting, BKAT for certain units)
• Photo for badge meeting specific guidelines required prior to start
• Confidentiality agreement required prior to start

• Candidates must comply with all state and facility-specific credentialing and onboarding requirements
