Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVPICU

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: Approximately 26 weeks


Job Description

  • Work location: Mission Bay
  • Shift: 12-hour variable days/nights
  • Ability to float to other facilities within the system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California RN License
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (PED CVICU) OR 5 years Pediatric ICU experience
  • Ability to float to other facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Certifications & Competencies

  • Must have current AHA certifications: BLS, PALS (no placeholders accepted)
  • ACLS preferred but not required for PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics
  • Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required with passing scores (80% or higher)
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry Exam required on first day for all RNs working in critical care and pediatrics
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be required depending on unit
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required for psychiatric positions (not applicable here)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of specialty experience in Pediatric CVICU or Pediatric ICU
  • No explicit prior travel experience required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks
  • Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable)
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required), annual update required
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
    • Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or Tspot) with specific timing requirements
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year)
    • Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted)
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required; booster 2 required for all travelers

Additional Requirements

  • Two supervisory references required, preferably from most recent employment
  • Current and updated resume covering last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Employment history verification for 7 years required
  • Completion of facility-specific learning modules and orientation prior to working on the floor
  • Completion of cybersecurity and HIPAA training and quizzes with passing scores
  • Various facility-specific forms and questionnaires including emergency contact information, COVID-19 preparedness, and religious or medical exemptions for vaccines if applicable

Notes

  • Candidate must be prepared for pass/fail testing on medication and telemetry on orientation day
  • Floating to other facilities within the system is required
  • Compliance with all facility-specific policies and documentation is mandatory
