Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - OR Tech First Assist

Job Details

• Position: OR Tech First Assist
• Schedule: 4x10 hour day/evening shifts
• Call: Required 1-2 weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
• Holiday coverage as needed

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical Services
• Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or ARC certified
• NBSTSA certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Please review specific requirements
• Other certifications may be required based on unit description

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and monthly thereafter
• Education verification for highest degree required by position
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
• Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
• Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years of start (minimum 80% score)
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable specialties (RN only) with specific scoring and remediation process
• Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required annually
• Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no shadows, solid background)

Notes

• Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate (not applicable here)
• Facility modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to hire date; these may take multiple hours
• N95 fit test required within 9 months of start and updated annually (not required for Sterile Processing Tech)

This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Services professionals with prior travel contract experience who are ready for a 13-week travel assignment with a structured schedule and comprehensive compliance requirements.
