Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Pediatric Float RN position with a ratio of 1:5.
- Requires 1.5+ years of nursing experience.
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required).
- Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays as applicable.
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (APHON preferred).
- Float assignments include Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (no chemo/infusions), pediatrics, adolescents, newborn nursery, and Special Care Nursery (SCN).
- May also take Med/Surg assignments in all areas of the hospital including PICU, NICU, and Pediatric Emergency Department.
- No block scheduling.
- Local candidates accepted.
- Maximum 7 days return to office (RTO).
- Must have experience with:
- IV pumps, pulse oximeters, cardiac monitoring
- IVs, TPN, G-tube, trach tubes, central lines, Foley catheters, NG tubes
- Respiratory treatments, transfusions, pre and post-op care
Required Experience
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience in specialty.
- Prior travel experience not required.
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) recommended for newborn and NICU areas.
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification preferred but not required.
Competencies and Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 72 hours of signing, valid within 12 months.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for applicable units.
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required with remediation policy for failures.
- Color Blind Testing within 1 year of start if job tasks require it.
Health and Background Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen).
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Respiratory medical clearance and fit testing required prior to start.
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire required.
Additional Requirements
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
- Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches.
- Completion of facility-specific floating policy.
- Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (online and in-person portions).
- Vendor medical clearance form required if history of positive TB.
- Facility-specific orientation and training videos must be completed prior to start.
Work Environment
- Float between multiple pediatric and med/surg units including critical care areas.
- No block scheduling, flexible assignments.
- Locals accepted, with a maximum 7-day return to office requirement.
