Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Open to first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
- No call requirement
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Float to Medical/Surgical (MS), ICU, and ED Waiting to take MS patients as needed
- Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:6
- Michigan RN License required
- BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Certification required
- Strong post-surgical competencies required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1.5 years MedSurg or PCU experience (highest required specialty experience)

- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
- Accessing ports
- Blood product administration
- Peripheral line care/management

Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, APEX, Bluecloud) - must be updated annually
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (required for ED and RRT roles)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (required if working in Pediatrics or ED)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AAP or American Medical Learning Center (required if working in Pediatrics)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ED
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - required
Licensure and Verification
- Michigan RN License with primary source online verification
- Education verification required (copy of highest degree or diploma acceptable)
- Complete application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
- One professional reference from supervisor/manager required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- MI LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (behavioral health, home health, specific units)
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric, RRT, L&D, and Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer roles
- Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
- Education verification and state-specific searches as applicable
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required onsite for certain roles
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (must include pertussis) - no exemptions accepted
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q gold/Tspot) within 45 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination required
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for candidates starting after November 1, with medical/spiritual exemptions allowed via facility forms
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable floating to multiple units including MS, ICU, and ED
- Must be able to handle patient ratios of 1:6
- Strong post-surgical nursing skills are essential
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
