Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut

Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 1830-0700 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday OR Saturday, Sunday, Monday)

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Weekend work required
• Pending state license accepted
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
• Guaranteed hours

Certifications

• ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit description)

Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year criminal background check (must be updated annually)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• Education verification including foreign equivalency if applicable
• Transcript or diploma verification (official transcripts required if education verification unavailable)
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of start (MRI Tech state license not required)
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Competencies & Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, all ICU units except Neuro ICU, SICU, NICU)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly preferred for pediatric, L&D, postpartum)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, vaccine series, or declination within 1 year
  • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history; boosters if low titer
• Drug testing: 10 panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Seasonal vaccinations:

  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccine series preferred

  • New Employee Orientation
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for MRI Techs)
  • Chaperone Policy Training (updated 5/24/2024)

Additional Requirements

• Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps greater than 90 days
• Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
• Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for MRI Techs and other specified units (updated if 30-day gap between assignments)
