Position Details
- Specialty: Emergency Department Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours, nights (1700-0530 and 1900-0730)
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 1 year travel experience with recent EPIC experience
- Weekend Requirement: Yes
- Call Requirement: No
- Floating: Within hospital only (no floating to sister hospitals)
- Block Schedule: Not open to block scheduling unless otherwise stated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License: Accepted if application submitted and received by licensing board
- Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 1 week
Job Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs, plan and coordinate interventions and consultations
- Perform procedures and treatments including moderate & deep sedation, ultrasound, intubation, cardioversion, D&C’s, sexual assault exams, CPR, and imminent deliveries
- Patient population includes trauma, acute stroke, STEMI, psychosis/psychological emergencies, sepsis, and patients with complex medical histories or substance abuse

Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA Provider only, traditional AHA, employer-verified e-cards required)
- ACLS (AHA Provider only, traditional AHA, employer-verified e-cards required)
- PALS (AHA Provider only, traditional AHA, employer-verified e-cards required)
- TNCC preferred
- NRP (AHA/AAP only)
- Stroke CEUs required annually for Emergency Department staff (minimum 4 hours/year)
- NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
Licensure
- Valid state RN license required (Primary Source Verification within 60 days prior to start)
- Pending license accepted if application is submitted and received by the licensing board
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including:
- Education verification
- Work history verification (last 2 employers)
- International searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- National Sex Offender Search within 30 days prior to start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start
- References: Two manager or supervisor references from last 24 months required
- Employment application with 7 years of work history required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam (Aya standard: within 1 year of start)
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent masks required)
- Immunizations or signed declinations required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months prior to start
- TB questionnaire required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required annually
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing for patient encounters
- COVID-19 exemption allowed only with signed medical/religious exemption but not for patient-facing roles
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date
- Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Completion of required online modules (Compass) prior to start is mandatory for badge issuance
- Medication override test provided during orientation (not required before start)
- Respirator clearance required for fit testing if done onsite
