Job Opportunity: Registered Dietician - Dietary Services

Location: Warm Springs, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Description

  • Must be a registered dietician licensed to work in Montana
  • Day shift schedule
  • Minimum 1 year experience required
  • Facility is a behavioral/psychiatric state hospital (Montana's only public psychiatric hospital)
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
  • State License verification (primary source online verification)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with passing score (80% required)
  • Competency Exam with passing score required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification preferred but not required; training provided for long-term staff if needed

Background & Screening Requirements

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Standard background check including SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender registry
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM check
  • Annual HHS/OIG check

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
  • N95 fit test within 12 months of start, updated annually (cannot be completed onsite)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year; if history of positive TB, negative chest X-ray and TB questionnaire within 1 year
  • Evidence of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer if born after 1957; booster required for low/equivocal titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, declination, or vaccine series
  • Varicella titer, vaccines, or history of disease; booster required for low/equivocal titers
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen (not required annually unless expiring during contract)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination allowed during respiratory season (Oct 1 - Apr 30); masks may be required during this period
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required at this facility, but if vaccinated, medical/religious exemption must be on file

  • Unit-specific skills checklist required
  • Additional skills checklists required for CNA/Nurse Assistant and Behavioral Health Technician candidates (not applicable for dietician role)

Notes

  • Montana State Hospital is a behavioral health facility, so experience or comfort working in psychiatric settings is important
  • Long-term contracted staff may receive CPI training if needed
