Operating Room Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Tucson, Arizona

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shifts, 4 shifts per week, 10-hour shifts (10:45 AM – 9:15 PM)
• Hours per Week: 40 hours
• Schedule Requirements:

  • 10 or 12-hour weekday shifts
  • Rotational call on nights and weekends
  • 6-8 weekend 12-hour call shifts per contract
  • 1 weekday call shift per week
• Scheduling Notes: No block scheduling requests accepted; no local candidates accepted.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2+ years RN experience required (highest stated requirement)
• Must be proficient in neuro needs (3s/4s)
• Experience required in:

  • Scrubbing total joints and spine surgeries (including total joints, spine fusions, fractures, crani procedures)
  • Neuro and orthopedic procedures
  • Robots, ENT, Cardiac, General Surgery, Pediatrics

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current RN license for Arizona
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Red Cross only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross only
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN or NCC acceptable
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) certificate (one required)
• National tech certification verification as applicable
• Facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgements
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for certain units (including Ortho and Pediatrics)
• HIPAA competency with annual renewal and passing score of 80% or higher
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher
• Specialty-specific competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher

Required Health Documents & Immunizations

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
• Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start; chest x-ray if positive TB test
• Full TDAP vaccine within past 10 years (declinations allowed except for Pediatrics, PICU, Pediatric ER, Mom & Baby, Labor & Delivery units)
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (declinations allowed with signed form within past year)
• Drug testing: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start, must be started within 72 hours of booking
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form

Background & Employment History Requirements

• Background check must be completed and cleared within 30 days of assignment start; includes 7-year history, OFAC, national sex offender, and all counties/states lived/worked
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Employment application with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
• Two professional references from employment within last 3 years, including one supervisory reference
• Annual skills checklist update required

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) certification
• Proficiency in neuro needs (3s/4s)
• Ability to scrub total joints and spines
• Experience scrubbing neuro and orthopedic procedures, including total joints, spine fusions, fractures, and crani procedures
• Experience with robotic procedures
• Experience with ENT procedures
• Experience with cardiac procedures
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
