Pediatric Echo Tech (Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Pediatric Echo Tech)
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with staggered start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM
- Weekend Requirement: None
- On-call Requirement: None
- Floating: Yes, will work at two locations (main hospital and a North Charleston clinic)
- Daily Caseload: 4-10 patients per tech
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Experience in pediatric echocardiography
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) certification or
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification with Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) credential
- All required certifications and state license must be in hand at the time of start
Licensure
- Must have an active, unencumbered state license appropriate for Pediatric Sonographer in South Carolina
- Pending state license accepted if all credentials are in hand at start
- Primary source verification of license required
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- PALS (AHA)
- NRP (AHA/AAP)
- Competency exams as applicable
- Color Blind Testing required prior to start
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Health & Safety Requirements
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years) or declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Background & Documentation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN trace
- County, state, national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3) required
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation modules and first day instructions prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Upload clear, passport-style badge photo (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire) by Wednesday prior to start
- Upload COVID vaccination records if available; COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred
- If declining COVID vaccine, must complete facility vaccination declination form with COVID checkbox checked
- Upload flu vaccination or exemption documentation into facility system by December 5th deadline during flu season
Additional Notes
- Travelers will be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November), with peak activity in August and September
- Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Facility may require floating between hospital and clinic locations
