Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Auburn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Unit: ICU
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (4x12 upon request during interview)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours (48 hours if 4x12 shifts, no overtime until after 52 hours)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
  • Floating: As needed

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent ICU nursing experience (within the last year)
  • Recent experience in ICU required

Required Skills / Competencies

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Arterial line management
  • Central line care/management
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Assist with management of BiPAP and CPAP
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Suctioning (ETT, NT)

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • License: New York State RN license (Compact license not accepted unless NY license application is submitted)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Additional Requirements

  • Pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) on cardiac rhythm interpretation on first day of orientation (includes arrhythmias, heart blocks, paced rhythms)
  • Background checks including SSN trace, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG prior to start
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by licensed provider
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
    • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunity
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella immunity or declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Completion of facility-specific documents and acknowledgements (e.g., Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality Agreement)
  • Professional references (2 within last 3 years)
  • Skills checklist required

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1.5 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Arterial line management
  • Central line care/management
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Titration of cardiac drips
  • Titration of vasoactive drips
  • Assist with management of BiPAP and CPAP
  • Care of ventilated patients

Cons

Old community hospital, doctors are really out of touch, small hospital problems. Lots of drama. Same as every other small hospital.
