Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• 12-hour shifts (Day: 0700-1930, Night: 1900-0730)
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and some holidays
• No on-call required
• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience required
• Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
• Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
• Basic Arrhythmia experience required
• Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Arrhythmia knowledge and ability to pass Telemetry test

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry
• Education verification as applicable
• State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin within 90 days of start
• Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
• Physical exam (must meet agency standard)
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • Varicella vaccination or titer, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
  • Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)

Testing and Competency

• Telemetry test (Adult Telemetry Test) must be completed and passed prior to start and updated annually
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication with remediation process if needed
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment
• Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail testing for Telemetry

Additional Notes

• Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
• Employment application and annual skills checklist required
• Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
• Various facility-specific forms and waivers related to communicable diseases and vaccine exemptions may be required

This position requires a highly skilled RN with critical care experience in CVICU, strong telemetry and arrhythmia knowledge, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts. Compliance with extensive background, health, and competency requirements is mandatory.
