OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Certified OR Tech needed for multiple surgical specialties including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, OB/GYN, and Trauma.
• Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• On-call is not required but may be offered/available.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
• At least 1 year of total travel experience.
• Certifications required:

  • NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with Trauma Level II designation.
• Total staffed beds: 130.
• Charting system: EPIC (experience preferred).
• Scrub color: Any color allowed for all areas except Labor & Delivery (not specified).
• Free parking in any unrestricted lot space.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
• Fit mask test required within 1 year and must be renewed annually (exceptions apply).
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Adult TDAP within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination as required.
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series (declination allowed with signed form).
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination series.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30).
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
• Respiratory safety clearance required and renewed annually (exceptions apply).
• Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only).

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Verification of up to 7 years of employment history required.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be renewed annually.
• Professional references required:

  • 2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates
  • 1 for per diem non-acute care candidates
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, abuse policy, confidentiality agreement, and others prior to start.
• TB screening questionnaire must be completed and signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
• Conditional offer of employment attestation must be completed prior to start.

• Prior travel experience is mandatory.
• Floating to other units within scope is expected.
• Onsite EKG exam may be required for ICU and telemetry RNs (not applicable here but noted for context).
