Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, either 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:45 - 19:15)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend; scheduling accommodates requested time off with makeup weekends as needed
- Patient Ratio: Willingness to take up to a 1:7 patient ratio if needed (rare)
- Floating: Floating within scope as needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PICC line management experience
- Experience with starting IVs
Additional Requirements & Information
- On-Call: Not required
- Time Off: Only one winter holiday off allowed; requests reviewed by manager based on unit schedule
- Uniform: Any solid color scrub top
- Charting System: Cerner
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including criminal and federal exclusions
- Primary source verifications for license and certifications
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Physical exam within one year of start, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
- Immunizations or documented immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- Photo for badge within one week of contract signing
- Review and sign code of conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing
- Two professional references required
