Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Everett, Washington
Schedule:
- 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (Tuesday to Friday)
- Day shift: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Job Description
- Role: Admissions Registered Nurse specializing in Hospice care
- Patient Load: Approximately 5-7 patients per day (geriatric, end-of-life care)
- Productivity: 30 points weekly required
- On-Call: Not required
- Territory: Up to 60-mile radius from the office; flexibility with territory expected
- Documentation: Timely documentation and communication are mandatory
- Dress Code: Scrubs of any color; jeans are not allowed
- Equipment Provided: iPad provided; cell phones not allowed
- Mileage: Reimbursed at IRS standard rate
- Locals accepted at travel rate
- First-time travelers not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of Hospice nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background checks must be current within 90 days of start and updated annually, including:
- SSN Trace
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- FACIS Level 1
- Nationwide Sex Offender Registry
- Motor Vehicle Records/Driver’s Record
- Education verification (highest degree related to profession)
- Work history verification (7 years, with attempts if unverifiable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
- Fingerprinting required if candidate has not lived in Washington for the past 3 years (completed on-site)
- State-specific criminal history and employability status checks as applicable
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within the last 12 months (not required annually)
- Fit test for N95 mask (no specific model required)
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if previously positive
- Annual TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella (series, titer, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required during flu season
- COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant acceptable)
Additional Documentation and Compliance
- Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgment (updated annually)
- Primary source verification of state license within 90 days of start and upon expiration
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 90 days of start
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Personal or auto insurance proof required if job duties include driving
- Facility-specific Acceptable Use Policy must be completed prior to start
- Agency background attestation required with candidate and agency signatures
- Two professional references within 2 years of start (travel, allied, per diem acute care)
Contract Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Hours per Week: 40 hours
This position is ideal for experienced Hospice RNs who have recent clinical experience, are comfortable with travel within a defined territory, and meet all compliance and health requirements. First-time travel nurses are not eligible.
